Hula hooping clown Kate Ryan aka Betty Spaghetti & Kate the Lifeguard is an comedy entertainer, humanitarian and international circus artist. On stage she shares a unique blend of playful mannerism and contemporary circus. She is fascinated by traditional multi style hula hooping and clown/ mime.

A multi disciplinary artist, Kate dedicates her work to community building projects/ social circus projects in Canada (Circus at the Harvest 2017, Social Circus Victoria 2016), Australia (Viral Happiness 2014 – 2015) and Asia (Nepal 2013, Thailand/ Myanmar 2017). She believes in facilitating the importance of play in every child’s life and has worked with organizations such as Help Without Frontiers (Spark Circus), Cartoon Network Amazone (Artist and Entertainment Team), Free the Children (We Day) and Variety The Children’s Charity (City of Melbourne).

Kate is a proud member of Spark Circus, an organization which offers laughter to relieve the suffering of at risk youth who live in areas of crisis; orphanages, refugee camps, hospitals and schools on the Myanmar/ Burma – Thai border. In 2017 Kate joined Spark Circus in Asia to tour and perform for six weeks, supporting over 4,000 children directly affected by the Burmese civil war.

​Her mission: to empower audiences, promote healthy lifestyle choices, and create confident communities.

Kate teaches workshops in circus hoops, hoop dance, character development and clown. She has taught at the Sacred Play Hoop Retreat, Boulder Circus Studio, Rainbow Serpent and toured across North America on her workshop tours.

She is a Canadian ambassador of, frequent feature on and clown/ videographer for Spark Circus.
