An Intro to Music, Choreo and Dancing with Flowmies
Learn how to properly count music as a way to “time” your flow to music intuitively and how that relates to combos, choreo, and dancing like everyone is watching. (: Expect to take a few notes on music theory and how to plan out choreography, jam out your favourite moves to different genres of music, and take home new ideas on how to turn on your sparkle when hoop dancing together with your flowmies.

Attention Horse – BTB Edition
Whether you’re the look-at-me!-type looking for some flashy new tricks, or a wallflower craving more confidence, we’ll be spending this hour playing with a variety of sass-building moves and playful, flashy combos. This multilevel workshop is a fun exploration of moves that transpire behind the back and therefore look and feel totally badass! We’ll play with a number of “yeah you did!” moves utilizing tosses, rolls, jumps, and folds, and we’ll take those badass tricks and combine them into some wonderful riffs to incorporate into your flow.
This is an all-skill-levels welcome workshop. Many of the drills and moves that I teach are layered in difficulty making them accessible to hoopers from novice to advanced so don’t be shy!

BREAK IT DOWN (intro)
Create more dynamic movement by incorporating Hoop Breaks into your flow! The technical concept of a break is stopping the flow of the hoop, transitioning into another movement. In this introductory workshop, we will explore various styles of core and off body breaks, using different hand/arm positions and areas of the body. Open to beginners and those looking to expand their hoop breaks practice.

BREAK FREE (intermed/adv)
Level up your Breaks game by incorporating them into your regular trick and combo repertoire. Open up more creative flair as we play with angled breaks and off-body break combos. We will also play with paddles: using the hands to assist the hoop in its spin. When combined, Breaks and Paddles can open up a plethora of transitions. Comfort with shoulder and leg hooping is required!

Circus inspired flair and show tricks, with all the sass and top notch speed. Short single hoop performance and choreography sequence. Multi hoop (two – six hoops) for on body drills and break downs.

Dynamic Performance Technique
This class is for all props & all skill levels! Students will learn to utilize speed variations, eye contact, facial expression, body extension, and characterizations to take their performance to the next level of audience connection. This class will be full of modalities that can be made unique to each student. Any flow artist can take these concepts to make their performances more dynamic.
Authenticity naturally emerges when we sink into our breath, flesh and bones. We dance to let go of our thinking we are supposed to be any way other than we naturally are, giving us courage to be fully creative and free. Karebelle gently guides you into exploring wild, weird, ecstatic and playful expressions, ending in a soft mindful stillness that will leave you feeling fully alive and ready of the weekend.

Exploring the Spiral Body (movement without props)
In this movement lab we will explore patterns of motion that leverage our body’s naturally occurring spiral structures. Our focus will be on identifying new approaches to moving safely, efficiently, and sustainably. We will explore strength in slowness as we build resiliency, awareness, and responsiveness in the body through the incorporation of variability. This class will encourage doing away with habitual movement patterns that are no longer serving us, while planting new seeds of creative possibility in our physical forms.

Flow With A Twist
Hoop magic is in all of us. There are discoveries to be made when we shift our focus from learning new tricks to letting our creativity flow through movements already in our repertoire. Together we’ll move through flow-finding exercises that are focused on finding new movement in established patterns (busting through the dreaded “rut” in your personal practice) and steps through which a single trick or technique can evolve and expand your flow. This is an all-levels workshop, leave perfection at the door – let’s get weird!

Ghosting & Isolation Tech
Take your isolation skills to the next level! We will cover basic two-handed isolation techniques and go through a series of exercises that will have you experimenting with isolations through various planes. Learn to incorporate turns, folds, and multi-directional movement. Find the freedom to flow with both your hands on your hoop!

Hoop Game Greatness
Get ready to embrace your inner child and PLAY within the hoop. Here we will go through fun and engaging hula hoop games great for a wide variety of ages, from children to adults. This workshop is perfect for hoopers who go into schools, teach classes, do birthday parties, or if you just want to give your brain a break and have some fun.

How To Tape Your Own Hoops
Come learn from one of Canada’s best hoopsmiths the secrets of the trade. Your choice of natural polypro or hdpe. Caroline will pre-make your hoop with a flush connection in your favorite size using EZ Clips and Ghostrivets. You will have access to Canada’s largest collection of deco and grip tape to make your custom hoop. (Check out https://www.georevhooping.com/shop/add-tape-poly-hdpe to see all the beautiful colours!) There will be multiple taping styles of varying difficulty taught. Learn how to make a flashy tech hoop covered in deco tape if your hands are up to it, or choose the easier-to-craft deluxe tape style with two colours of deco tape and one grip tape. This workshop includes applying Clear Protective Tape and 3M Grip to the inside of your hoop! There will be a $40 fee to cover costs and materials and pre-registration is required. Intro to Triple Hoop
This intermediate hoop workshop serves as an introductory sampler pack for three hoop technique. Students will explore wall plane manipulations/illusions, basic toss juggling concepts, a multiplex, placement patterns, entry into a hoop globe, and various other three hoop trickery. While multi hoop experience is not needed, it is recommended.

Sing it with us: “I like big HOOPS and I can not lie” …Join us for an hour of OG hooping where we’ll bust out some sweet moves from the past decade (and more!) of hoop dance , complete with booty bumping tunes at the top of the hooper’s playlist from years past, and tales of the days when we used to have to hoop uphill both ways naked in a snowstorm to get to hoop class. Hoopdance has been evolving as an art form like mad over the past several years and we want to celebrate where we’ve come from, and where we’re headed!

Lyra with Wolf Flow
If you’ve ever wanted to try out aerial lyra/ hoop, now is your chance!
Come “hang out” with Wolf Flow and learn how to enter/ exit the hoop safely, along with a few lyra moves, and how to move through them in a sequence!
We will have three rigs/hoops to share, all set up to fly together!

This workshop is a choreographic exploration, guiding you through a composition process to take away your own short, unique phrase of movement. Topics include: improvisation exercises (stimulate new pathways of thought and movement by challenging default patterns of body and mind), a selection of technical concepts from contemporary dance (principles of alignment, shaping the body in space, floor work), aesthetics, and dynamics. We will mainly focus on the body itself, but there will be some time to apply the knowledge to your hoop, if you wish.

Sustained, Explained: Adventures in Sustained Spinning
Hooping with a sustained spin is not only a way to add grace and beauty to your flow, it’s also a conceptualization of movement to creates shapes in space by rotation. We’ll learn several spinning techniques, ways to work through dizziness, and ideas for shape creation with one or more hoops. When fully done with spinning, we’ll finish with a grounding exercise.

Escalators are a staple in the single hooping realm, but they can be difficult to incorporate into twin hoop tech. Here, we will explore various double escalator tricks and transitions that are sure to satisfy any escalator enthusiast! In addition to analyzing the technical movements of the twin escalators, Melissa will also share the theory behind the creation of this family of tricks so that students can apply the same concepts to their own practice in order to generate their own unique double hoop moves.

Wonderful World of Weaves: An Introduction
Whether you are just beginning your doubles journey or are looking to level up your twin hoop game – this is the class for you! In this beginner/intermediate workshop we will create a strong foundation of basic weave patterns all while working up to mastering the 3 beat weave, forwards and backwards! The skills you acquire here will allow for an increased freedom of movement and a new flow to your doubles spinning. By the end of this class you will have learned all of the essential moves that are necessary to eventually tackle The Fountain! This class will be taught with twin hoops and swing/spin flags. Flags will be provided by the instructor.

Wonderful World of Weaves: Further Exploration
This intermediate/advanced class will help fine tune your 3 beat weaves and teach you how to move between different weave patterns. We will explore various turns and transitions, all leading up to the main focus of this class: learning The Fountain. If time allows we will tackle some additional interesting weave patterns, such as the 5 beat weave and behind the back weave. Join Sarah on this further exploration into the Wonderful World of Weaves and push the boundaries of your double hoop skills! This class will be taught with twin hoops and swing/spin flags. Flags will be provided by the instructor. Some experience with 3 beat weaves is recommended but not required.
